Commercial Pilot Services

Hey all -
I've recently been introduced to a businessman who is interested in hiring a pilot to take over the shipping of his products. Having just completed my CPL, I understand that this would be - under the FARs - considered pilot services, and would not involve getting a commercial operators license.

I am also under the impression that for a commercial operation, the aircraft involved must be owned/leased by the operator. The businessman in question does not currently own or lease an aircraft, and has asked me look into the possible lease/rental of an aircraft for his venture. The businessman has indicated that the shipping could be accomplished in one day a week.

If anybody has any insight or experience in these matters, I would greatly appreciate your input. They taught me how to fly at flight school, but not how to start a commercial operation!!

Cheers,
Dave
