aviation related database (economy/finance)

Hi,

I am a pilot (unfortunately not a CPL holder yet), but I am also an economics student and I am desperately looking for database with data related to aviation (in whatever way). Since the data are to be used in econometric model and probably in my graduate work, these data should be economics/finance related. I am not concerned in any specific subject of variables, since right now I am looking rather for an inspiration: I don't have any thesis set yet, I'd rather like to know what data is available to me.

Actually, I am more interested in harder-to-find(?) cross-sectional data rather than panel data or time series. I need 100+ observations, so data for countries, airlines(their financial statements database?), tickets, airports etc. would suit me best I suppose.

For example - I have found a website regarding US transport: BTS | Data and Statistics. But it's US database, whereas I'd rather prefer worldwide or at least Europe data. I have thoroughfully gone (I think I did ) over websites of ICAO, IATA, Eurocontrol, European Comission, World Bank and few others I was given by my lecturers, but there is nothing there. What I found were only already prepared reports, which at some point will probably be helpful as well, but not yet. Right now, I just need numbers.

I was about to go more deeply trough IDEAS: Economics and Finance Research. I thought that maybe authors of these works could be of any help. I hope, however, that I will find pprune even a better and more diverse source of data. I didn't know if it should have been posted in spectators balcony, but I think it may find broader audience here.

Thanks in advance,
Michal

Economic regulation of Aviation is a mixed thing in Europe. What the different countries seek to regulate - and thus collect data - about varies.
Have a look at the UK CAA site. However, their Economic Regulator is a v. small dept. However, there might be useful stuff there.
Other places to look would be IATA and ICAO. The latter is more focussed on safety, as is EASA.

Thanks. There is some data provided by Aviation Intelligence Publications. Shame in most cases its UK only...

I have just found some possibly interesting data on EUROSTAT (Browse / Search database), but there's a lot to go through, so I look forward to seeing more replies. Thank you .
