Where to hire A320 Sim to 'unfreeze' ATPL?

Hello all,

Would anybody be able to recommend a Simulator centre (A320) in the UK (or Europe, but preferably UK because my license is a UK JAA CPL) where I might be able to perform an LST to unfreeze my ATPL?

I fulfill all the hours requirements as per "LASORS".

But perhaps more importantly would anyone be able to first clarify that I will in factbe allowed to perform an LST for the purpose of unfreezing my ATPL even though I just did a OPC 3 weeks ago (my next 'official' LPC isn't due until April 2010)?

If so, am I correct in assuming that a 1 hour sim session would suffice? I understand that I must fulfill all the 'usual' proficiency check requirements in JAR FCL 1.240 & 1.295 as well as a raw data ILS manually flown. Is that approximately correct?

In case you're wondering why I don't just wait until my next LPC in April, I cannot do this as I'm a contract pilot and my contract will finish in a few weeks!

So, to summise:
  1. Can I perform an LPC in this 'out of sequence' manner or must I wait until next year? If so;
  2. What is the miminum time I would need in the simulator to do this?
  3. Where can I do it?
Happy landings,

John.

John,

I have done the same some years ago so to answer your questions:

1. Yes you can, it is like a LPC and when done at own expense you can do it any time you like.

2. Depends on your skills but count on 2 hours.

3. www.iagouk.com is highly recommended, very professional and friendly TRE's at low cost, they use the sim at Oxford Aviation Academy and Alteon both in Crawley.

When are you planning on doing it since I might be wanting to get current again myself so we could share the cost? PM me if you like.

Hi all,

Asking the same question as the original poster really...

I have 1500+ hrs mostly 737, but did my all my training at OAT Gatwick recently on the A320 Sim, with an A320 Course Completion Certificate.

However the LST itself was done by my airline examiner, who is not UK CAA approved.

With my (f)ATPL expiring next February 2012 I'd like to unfreeze my ATPL and thus am looking, along with a few others within my airline to hire an A320 sim to complete the LST but under the UK CAA auspices.

Which sims/companies can help out with this, so far apart from the IAGO link, have found "simuflyltd". Any others?

Kind Regards
