Expats

How does a Pilot working abroad keep his (I will use his to female pilots as well) licence valid? that is Intrument Rating and 6 months recurrent.

In my country, Tanzania, a pilot has to pay for a return ticket and accomodation for a TCAA IR examiner or a TCAA inspector for his recurrent in simulator WHEREVER the sim is in the world so as to maintain the IR or validity of the rating in his TZ licence.

I know one Pilot who has opted to let his TCAA licence expire as the exercise involves going deep into his pocket.

How is it done by expat pilots in the rest of the world...
