European pilot to emigrate for the US how to get a visa and change license?
Hi there,
Recently I have been talking to a contact in america and due to the current job situation in europe it isn't easy to get one. I am looking to start an instructors job in America. do any of you have any experience with getting a working visa for the US and converting an ICAO JAR-FCL ME/IR CPL(A) to a JAA license? if so, what are the costs involved?
cheers!!

Your (US) employer has to get your H1-B visa for you...usual cost is $5-12k USD. JAA-FI? Maybe you stand a chance with one of the JAA-in-the-US firms.
Going for an FAA CFI/CFII/MEI? You've got about as much chance as a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.

USA...? - hmmmm -
Do not forget to get your social security card ASAP after arrival.
Will need it to claim unemployment benefits and welfare.
FAA certificate not required for that. The JAA licences are fine...
