Code share positives and negatives
There is quite a debate going on the Southwest Airlines PPRUNE forum.
Just curious to find out what others think and feel are the positive and negative aspects for PILOTS regarding code share.
Too many of my fellow Southwest pilots are under educated on the subject. Myself included.
Thanks for the input.

The glossy company newspaper will occasionally get the newly joined all excited about a new destination the company serves in some remote exotic place only to have them find out later that it is just a codeshare/alliance partner's destination or whatever.
In reality it propably doesn't matter as that airport will not be on the roster anyway. It can be quite a pain when travelling on an ID ticket only to find out that this particular combination of "operated by alliance partner's regional affiliate" requires a different ticked/is embargoed/has to be endorsed before departure...
I have not quite made up my mind whether the fare paying passengers really like codeshares or not.

Reimers,
Thanks for the reply. My concern is more along the lines of job security, outsourcing, not getting the lost city pairs back.
My employer is entering uncharted waters and our pilot outlook is quite gloomy.
