Well, if you're an unlicensed student pilot from Zimbabwe, no chance at all.

If you're a current FAA ATP holder, a very good chance indeed!

If you're somewhere between those two, you'll have more luck getting an accurate answer if you provide some information about yourself...

From my rather limited experience, if you have the requisite JAA license and in a country that recognises that license, you MIGHT have a fighting chance.

European validation of FAA license...

There are opportunities, but they are few and far between. I am currently flying in Slovenia with a validation of my FAA license. However, my validation is good for 1 year with a possibility of a 6 month extension if I show intent to get my JAA license. After that, well... Also, my validation specifies only the CRJ with S5 (Slovene) registration. So, I cannot go to the local flying club and rent a C-152 (they might do it, but I don't think that it is technically legal), and I cannot get another job in any other European country with my validation.

As far as I am aware, it is unusual to get a JAA/CAA state to validate your FAA license for any period of time unless there is a serious lack of qualified people for a specific job. In my case I am flying as a CRJ captain on an 18 month contract and had to have a minimum of 1500 hours of CRJ PIC time - though I think that requirement has been reduced to 1000 hours. If I had a JAA license, that requirement would only be 500 hours of PIC.

I am currently studying to take my JAA exams. I am really, really NOT enjoying it...

A Validation is not a blanket authority to fly any registered JAA aircrcaft in any JAA country. A validation is issued only to fly a specific type of aircraft that is registered in that country. In the case of "expat" hired airline pilots, the validation usually is sponsored by an airline of that country.

Sucking egg's wasn't meant to be fun, sorry! Just do it and forget about all the awful things you had to learn in order to enjoy some of the most superb flying in the world.
I've flown on three validations in Europe over the past two years and I'm fed up with it!
I'm done with all of that now, spent a lot of money, hated some of the stuff and enjoyed a lot of it and now I look forward to being in a similar position to you!

Grit you teeth and good luck with it!
