airbus direct law

hi all,

on the 330 are flare law and direct law the same?
and can you get the "man pitch trim only" in amber and not be in direct law?

and last with the landing gear stuck down why isnt there an action on the
ecam requesting the TCAS to T/A ( it happens for the engine failure)?

thanx

Im surprised you even have to 'action' the TCAS to TA, I would have thought that was automatic given an engine failure situation?

1. Similar, but not the same. FCOM 1.27.20 P3
2. RED "MAN PITCH TRIM ONLY" on PFD means that you are in mechanical backup mode while AMBER "use man pitch trim" is an indiction of the direct law. Can you get this message and not be in the direct law? I can't think of any but then I'm no A330 expert. FCOM 1.27.30 P4 & P5
3. Dunno. Just curious: what's the exact title of the ECAM procedure you're reffering to?

Cheers, C.
