a320 family on transatlantic

Firstly I apologise if this is in the wrong forum but I wanted my question to be seen by someone in the know.

As we know, BA are to operate LCY-JFK on an A318. A few years ago an engineer at Jeddah told me that the only member of the A320 family that could operate transatlantic from Europe was the A319-100LR.

I have been wondering though: if the A318 can operate LCY-SNN-JFK-LCY then surely a standard A319 could operate say STN-JFK-STN or a regional route like NCL-JFK-NCL without even a stop? Would this be correct?

Again sorry for posting here but my curiosity got the best of me.

So a 319 from a larger airport could do it non-stop? (a non LR)

Look at Airbus A318 performance on Airbus website.
It shows Paris - New York westbound but only New York - Dublin eastbound.
This should answer your question.

New thought.
That does not make sense.
So I think both ways from MAN or NCL would be possible.

So then. In terms of range a NCL-JFK-NCL could be done with a 319 but it would not be viable? Am I right?

I've never flown one but I understand the Airbus is a lot of fun to land in a gusty crosswind.

LCY should be great fun!

It also remians to be seen if the operation will be profitable and sustainable should the recession continue for some years?
