UK Airline Training Jobs?
Hello all,
Not sure if this is the best forum for this question, but it seems to get a lot of traffic so here goes:
I curently work as a 737 Instructor for a major airline in the US. I'm from the UK originally and have been thinking for several years about a move back to the UK eventually. Well my airline is one of the many that is beginning capacity reductions in the near future, so as a guy without much seniority I'm starting to look at options should the layoffs come later in the year.
I teach in the classroom and FTD, but not in full-motion sims, though I have also worked for FSI as a Ground and Sim Instructor. I've got some contacts at FSI and CAE in the UK and those are both possibilities, but I like the airline business (I know, probably some deep personality problem there) so I'm also wondering about opportunities with UK airlines. I've checked the job and airline websites but there dont seem to be openings at the moment. But for longer term planning, does anyone have any insight into hiring into training departments in the UK? Also, I know roughly the salary numbers for FSI and CAE, but have no idea about airline training salaries. Anyone have any idea about that?
Just to give the quick and dirty version of my quals, I have:
FAA ATP, Jetstream 31 and Dash 8 Type Ratings
FAA Flight Instructor Certificate
5,500 hours total time
3,500 hours air carrier experience in Jetstreams, Dash 8s and A300s
Currently instructing on the 737-300/400
Previous Ground/Sim Instructor on the Dash 8
Thanks for any advice, insight, or abuse.
