Airband Transciever/Radio in luggage

Hey all,
I was wondering, i live in Canada, and am soon going to purchase an Airband transciever ICOM IC-A6, once i get my license mailed in, and i am wondering if i am allowed to travel in commercial flights with an airband transciever (notice: not scanner but transciever) in my luggage, i guess i'll ask both checked and hand luggage which will probably be a no, will i get any trouble to have one in my checked luggage? Is it troublesome to travel with an airband transciever, because i have a flat in Germany and France near airports so i want to listen in to ATC etc....

Thanks a lot guys.

I would remove the batteries in case there are any issues.

but isn't there that new FAA rule about batteries that are not in their appliances? I checked already with it's voltage an wattage and it just fits in the FAA standards to be allowed to be carried on (the battery for the radio) but i dont know if they'll let me seperate them.
