Flight case

Hi there. Can anyone tell me where I can get a soft flight case? Specifically the one that is manufactured for Swissair pilots?

Try Transair or AFE, though if they don't have it then you will have to buy it internationally from an american website.

Type "pilot case" into google and select UK pages only. The first non-sponsored link opens directly onto a page where the first item is the swissair soft pilot case!

Site is pilotwarehouse - case isn't cheap though, over £130! If you don't mind vinyl or nylon you can get one for under £30! (mine was £29.99 from WH Smiths!)

Any reason why you are so set on that particular case?

Thumbs up

Don't know about Swissair issue, but the clear winner in the PPrune sweepstakes was the Argos soft pilot case at £19.99 .
Correction, sale price £14.99, you can't argue with that! http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...PILOT+CASE.htm

Thanks for posting guys.
Ropey the reason I was looking for the Swiss one. I purchased a case on Ebay from a supposedly good supplier http://www.flightstore.co.uk/deluxe_...182.dept_l3.0/ and it's falling apart after about 18 months. My last one lasted about ten years. I had the oppertunity to have a look at the Swissair one and it seemd VERY well put together.
The case on the pilot warehouse is about the strongest one I've came across but I'm looking more for the soft courier type which is again made for the Swiss pilots.
I agree the £130 ish sounds a lot, but it's better if it lasts me another 10years. (About the end of my flying career) and not just 18 months.

DB the argos one is def tempting.

Jaq,

I am not sure which flightcase you are talking about, because there is no soft case for Swiss pilots as far as I know.

I bought the original Swiss International Airlines flightcase just last june through a friend directly from Swiss International, and it is definately a leather flightcase looking like this (but of course in black):

Maybe you saw a softcase manufactured by Wenger or Victorinox, they both carry a Swiss Cross as logo and might be confused as a original Swiss International Airlines flightcase. This happened to me, as I use a Victorinox since one of the buttons on the leather 'flap' holding the handles of the Swiss flightcase together just 'disintegrated' after only 4 week usage.

Regards,
DBate

Dbate yes, this is indeed the hard case they have (but in black). However I have seen one of the soft ones. I now kick myself for not asking at the time.
My search continues.

Jaq,

I will be in Zurich next week for some SIM training, and try to have a lookout there. If I see someone with a softcase, I will ask them about it.

Regards
