Q! Is the NG equiped with auto/manual/continuous ignition switches?
Q! Taking off in heavy rain, how is the system utilised?
Q! Is it normal to take off with weather radar on/sweeping?
or On and Stby?
Or maybe none of the above?
then enlighten me!
H/Snort.

Q! Is the NG equiped with auto/manual/continuous ignition switches?
A! Yes. 4 modes: -grd(for ground start) -off(off) -cont(continuous ignition on selected igniter) -flt(continuous ignition on both igniters)
Q! Taking off in heavy rain, how is the system utilised?
A! During T/O the switches are selected in -cont. In heavy rain, one can select the switches in -flt.
As described above, the system provides continuous ignition. However: regardless of which mode you select, the Ignition system will provide continuous ignition on both igniters if: -An uncommanded rapid decrease in N2 occurs, -N2 is between 57% and 50%, or -during flight, if N2 is between idle and 5%. But to prevent is better than to cure, thats why we select the system before T/O
Q! Is it normal to take off with weather radar on/sweeping?
or On and Stby?
A! Yes. WXR on during T/O to asses weather on flightpath after T/O.

Wx radar on for Takeoff even in CAVOK. This is for PWS operation. With radar off the PWS starts activating & scanning and my take up to 20secs to give a warning. With radar on PWS is active immediately the T/L's pass either 70degress or the takeoff warning position; not sure which.
