JAA no more???

I recently heard that from june next year the joint aviation authority are changing, and this will affect pilots from ppl to atpl. I heard the exams will be more strict with no question data bases. does any one know anything about this?

Whatever changes are in the pipeline there is only one certainty, it won't get any cheaper.

The only change i know of is the name change from JAA- EASA.

I'm not sure how it will affect the theory exams, it might be worth while contacting an FTO. As for no question bank, I wasn't aware that anyone had the official JAA question bank!! Granted some are very good, but the majority of these so called official question banks contain the Volare feedback!!

Regards

I hear EASA, in Koln, are preparing to take over Licensing in the next two years - Whether that means FCL or Engineer Licencing I am not sure.

with all the feedback questions running around europe, I don't think it is possible to prohibit the exchange of questions.they are very close of the JAA databank.

Fly training will be more and more expensive.Apparently this is what we want in europe. the most expensive license in the world to fill pockets of our governments.they have to find the money somewhere!

They should bring back morse code in my book, and you can bet your bottom dollar it will cost more.

The gready *******

Maybe, to be on a crew council and decide such changes you should have to do a management specific type rating...and it should cost about £75000

The chance of examination questions being more difficult once EASA is in control is remote. The change over to EASA has been a disaster with insufficient funding and lack of suitable staff willing to relocate to Koln. As a result it is, as one contributer wrote, just changing the paperwork headings. It will be a very long time indeed before differences are any more than cosmetic.

EASA : European Aviation Safety Agency.
Indeed already replacing the JAA.
As to the costs of exams / licenses, this is not EASA ( neither was it JAA) business.
This is up to each contracting state to determine if there are costs (*) and to which level.

(*) Yes there are still some JAA Member States where licenses and exams are free.
