EASTERN AIRWAYS Security Threat?

EASTERN AIRWAYS Security Threat
I had a fellow with a MAN badge as a pax on a flight that said he worked at Eastern Airways being based in Chester (clearly stated, not MAN) I have serious doubts now(reason for my edit) because I now know there is no airport in Chester that handles his airline as he claimed! He was a pax "requiring" an upgrade for he and his companion and his age could have been well past 60; I did not catch the date of the badge or look closely at the details but I wish to forward information on to Eastern before I do to the CAA.

What if someone gave him a jumpseat?

He strikes me as a loose cannon and a potential threat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My bad, he was a pax and became nothing more but in thinking about it and after the observations of my cabin staff upon landing, I think I should have thought more about him, especially because his badge was not in a frame or attatched to a necklace!

Please PM me with any info or if you can help me identify this individual who claims to be on the J41 After the 146. A Chief Pilot at Eastern would be of help................

We don't need any other nut cases out there with a bad badge and make it worse for the rest of us..............

Cheers............

Sorry I got the name of his airline confused with a defunct US Carrier..........

Eastern do have a J41 permanently based at Hawarden on lease to Airbus UK. In addition Eastern used to have a significant presence, although that is a little reduced these days, at MAN including a line maint. unit.

I would imagine that there is little to worry about although you can never be too careful!

60N030,

If this individual concerns you as much as you claim, why dont you contact Eastern direct and explain the situation as opposed to putting a post on this forum, which achieves what exactly?

That's a bit harsh. Yes I agree that anyone that might be conceived to be a security threat should be taken seriously.

That said, what 60N030 has done is reasonably sensible. Without asking the question on here he would have not discovered that Eastern have a J41 at Chester, and that Chester itself exists, and would have made a total pratt of himself inside 30 seconds.

Angry Security Threat?

I can confirm that Eastern DO fly out of Hawarden (sp) on the J41. The reason I know this is that my wife used to do the route. Just from the description of the "security threat" we both know the chap in question, he has many years in aviation and is a well respected captain. It would've been easy to check your facts through official channels before jumping on PPRUNe.

If you are serious or concerned about a security threat, don't mess around posting in PPRUNE, just contact the relevant authorities.
Help can be found on the Home Office website: http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/security/
On the website there is a link "Helping us keep everyone safe" and it says: "call the anti-terrorism hotline on 0800 789 321 to report any suspicious activity"
That will probably solve most of your concerns.

Anyone who wants an upgrade with Ryanair should definately be treated as suspect and unstable.......why would anyone want to sit on the toilet for the whole flight!
(that's the only upgrade seat on Ryanair isn't it)?
