Training in USA

I am often asked by UK folks if it is a good idea to train in the US. My personal opinion is yes, but with reservations. Most of what you attain will not be recognised in the UK, but the training is good, there are more flying days and it is cost effective. In fact it would seem that the intention of the CAA is only to prevent flight training moving abroad which is not safety instigated but protectionism. What do you all think, I'm getting ready to duck.
