MD80/Boeing 717
Hey,
What with the MD80/Boeing 717 going out of production, what is going to happen to these planes that need spares etc etc - Also, by the time I have obtained my ATPL (which should be around 6, or 7) years time, would it still be possible to fly one of these aircraft, or is there not much call for them now?
Cheers,
George!

The spare parts business is quite lucrative, so long as some critical mass fleet size remains. If history is any guide, Boeing (together with subsidiaries and subcontractors) will continue to produce DC-9/MD80/717 spares for quite a while.
