Ours are powered by the General Electric CF6-80B6F. For a simple calculation you can use 6000 kilograms (± 1980 US gallons) for the first hour and 5000 kilograms (± 1650 US gallons) for every hour after that.
The more accurate method for calculating your required trip fuel on our aircraft is;
Landing weight – 120,000 kilograms divided by 120,000 kilograms x 100 giving you a percentage fuel consumption over/under norm. Add this to your normal high/low consumption figure. Make this percentage into a decimal add 1. Multiply this by airdistance multiplied by 10.
Example.
Landing weight= 130,000 kilograms.
F-F Factor = +3,5%
Airdistance 3400 nm.
130,000 – 120,000 = 0.083 x 100 = 8.4% + 3.5% = 11.9%
120,000
1.119 x 3400 x 10 = 38,046 kilograms (±12,560 US gallons) will be your required tripfuel.
This flight would take about 7 hours and 30 minutes. The simple calculation would give you a tripfuel of 38,500 kilograms. So you can see that is already pretty close to the more accurate method.
All conversion calculations are based on a Specific Gravity of the fuel of 0.800.
