CAT I minima setting during CATII/III
Hello there.
B737 fail-passive operator: We have a discussion whether it is practical, during a CAT II/III approach to have CAT I minima displayed using the Reference Altitude Marker. The argument goes, that this enables you to continue to your CAT I minima, even if your have an onboard system failure that downgrades your approach-capability to CAT I. What do you do in your company, and for what reason?
Kind regards

We do set CAT I minima on the baro altimeter bug, during CAT II&III approaches.
The main policy for us is: if WX conditions are somewhat over CAT I, you may brief for a CAT III app and forecast an eventual downgrade to CAT I.
If the weather is far below CAT I minima, and you have your capability affected after the OM or FAF, and you don't have reference to continue visually, then it's a go-around situation.
