737-300 Type Rating Question
Hello all,
I'm beggining type in January and was wondering if anyone can reccomend any pre-study?
I've got hold of some old folders from about 1980 so thinking of a brief look through them.
If anyone can suggest anything specific or anything danger areas to be aware of then please do.
Thanks
Jimmy

Buy the Cockpit Companion and study hard. If you have no experience with FMS, I would recommend you to buy the FMC Guide as well.
If this is your first rating, you will have to work very hard. The transition from light a/c to the 73 is not as easy as the TRTOs' would like you to think.
Good luck, its lots of fun.
Cheers
Oh yeah, I almost forgot
smartcockpit is a very good site.
Safe landings.

There isn't much to read on before the course as everything will be covered, but if you want you can look on the following systems:
Air Conditioning & Pressurization
Auxiliary Power Unit
Automatic Flight
Electrical
Fire Protection
Flight Controls
Flight Instruments
Fuel
Hydraulics
Ice & Rain
Limitations
Pneumatics
Powerplant
Warnings
Another good 737 website is www.smartcockpit.com where good notes about the above systems can be found. Looks like POL777 beat me to it
Actually the 737 isn't that difficult to fly, before I went for my own 737 rating I had flown very little for a couple of years but still found it "easy" to handle .. however the most difficult bit was getting the grips of getting the pitch right .. really sensitive at that point..
What I found worked well was going through the days flight (lessonplan) with your simbuddy and go through the procedures for what you going to do.. then there should not be any problems in the box..
Where will you be taking your rating?

All great stuff there gents, thank you
It is my first rating although mcc and jot were on a 737 sim, so its not too unfamiliar. However i'm expecting that 40hrs to make anything easy.
I'm doing the rating down at CTC Southampton

Reading of websites and books aside , if you can get hold of a copy of the CDROM that covers all the technical stuff and view that in your own time, it wont be so bad on the course!
True, the airline one will be tailored to them, but a 737 is a 737 with minor variances.
