I thought I saw an EC135 around the Midlands the other day/night.
But it must have been something else!

There's already a long thread about this, but I'm too lazy to look for it.
Ahhhh, had a change of heart and a spare 30 seconds.....here

I saw the first 10 minutes last night, thanks to Sky+, I'll see the rest later.
The part I saw was about the first reported 'Foo Fighters' from the Lancaster crews of a red light moving around the flight during a mission.
After being discounted during the de-brief, another report was filed the following night by the Squadron Commander. This time it was a green light.
Now, I'm no expert on flying a Lancaster during wartime, but if I was young, inexperienced and about to get shot at over Germany, I'm sure my mind would be working overtime somewhat.
As for the red/green lights;
Look out the port window; your red light, someone elses green light.
Look out the starboard window; your green light, someone elses red light.
Like I said, no expert, however...........

In my flying career I've sighted quite a few Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs). I can be certain of this because in each case they were -
(1) Unidentified - I wasn't sure what they were,
(2) Flying - They were definately flying, i.e. above the earth's surface, and
(3) Objects - Clearly defined objects or clear sources of light, undiffused by cloud, haze, etc.
On further investigation, most were found to be other aircraft, a few were Met baloons, and on one or two occasions, a star or planet (e.g. Venus) of unusually high light intensity. The rest I didn't bother to follow up, they were probably aircraft too, thus they remain Unidentified, Flying, and Objects.
It never ocurred to me that, with the exception of a few 'bright planet' sightings, they might have been of Extra-Terrestial origin.
Get Real!!!!............
I speak with some authority on this, because I, along with a few hundred thousand pilot colleagues, have also been UFOs from time to time.
(BTW, It's still 5 months to April Fool's Day)

the Hunt for Zero Point - Jane's Reporter
This book contains interesting insights by the author, regarding the mentioned fighter spottings..
Good read, very cloak & dagger but sit it through!
Apologies for the last incomplete posting, the title AND author:

Dont think they had nav lights fitted or if they did they wouldnt be using them in a combat scenario
Perhaps if the mission briefs were that lights were to be off, and someones a/c had them on, then that would explain why the pilots were seeing something that shouldn't be there!
Extraterrestrial!! Think about the big picture!

you expect me to talk after what happened the last time the black omega and suits came round this way!!

Two years ago whilst instructing from Kemble i spent a day at Filton teaching circuits.
On our third circuit on the easterly runway we observed at close range a large "cigar" shaped object spinning and maintaing a fixed position in space to our south(Bristol direction).
After i very excitedly radio'd the tower and completed another circuit, the object was still in it's position relative to our circuit. The tower announced that it must be a ballon! From our close range we both agreed(myself and student) that i was of metalic construction.
I explained to the tower as i approached the end of our downwind leg, that with a southerly wind of 15 kts and after 6 minutes elapsing the "balloon" should have drifted north.
I then held downwind as a private jet was departing in a westerly direction and i was about to join right base for rny 08. The "balloon" then made a swift exit to the west and climbed rapidly until it dissappeared.
Two more circuits we decided to return to Kemble and announce our near miss with the mothership. I asked my student, a farm manager from the Warminster area if this had been exciting/shocking etc and noticed he wasn't at all fazed by any of it.
The trully chilling bit about the whole episode is that as a farmer from the Warminster area this was the fourth object he'd seen that year, and it was the fire balls of light that really scared him!!!!
This statement was said in no jest and appeared totally genuine. I have to admit i flew the short trip back to Kemble with goose bumbs, not at what WE had seen, but at what a regular occurence this was for HIM.
This is what we observed and make your own mind up what it was.
Regards
