Ok

Nice to see you guys starting up another point after DEL (but then to be fair to your company it was the bilaterals which were holding you up all the while).

Sixth biggest airport in terms of traffic in the country and steadily growing both in Domestic and International. Current runway has some payload penalty for a fully loaded 744 and even 777, but runway strengthening work is going on for some, should finish by October end. Currently 9 stands (as Airfranz said for domestic and international combined), four of the stands have aerobridges.

Currently the widebody traffic consists of 3 weekly 340s by LH, a couple of 777s weekly by Saudia , thrice weekly 330s by Malaysian and by Emirates which brings in a daily 330 and once a week a 777. Qatar I think occasionally brings in a AB6 as well. In addition, Air India beings in a few 747s as well as 310s and Silk Air (likely to be replaced soon by SQ), Srilankan , Qatar and Oman Air operates narrowbodies as well.

Has both enroute and approach radar coverage as well and the airport sees very little weather related diversions.

Please note that conditions are going to only improve as the city (along with Bangalore ) will be having brand new airports commissioned some time in 2008. The new airport is built with technical assitance from Malaysian Airports (of KLIA fame). Work has started, and once the new airport is commisioned, the existing one will be closed for civil flights. The new airport will be a single runway operation with a proposed leogth of 4260 metres initially.

RWY lenght 3103 meters....
Landing ILS 27, the threshold is displaced several hundred meters. I don't have the exact figure in my head, but be careful, especially if the runway is wet.

Flew into Hydrabad this morning and noted down a few figures.

Runway 09/27 3103m x 45m

Runway 27 LDA 2365m beyond G/S 2073m

Runway 09 LDA 2751m

Winds normally favour 27 (ILS approach). Both thresholds displaced due to terrain at both ends.

Runway 27 upslope then downslope for the last 500m or so.

Lots of birds in vicinity.

Ground Engineers tend to start pushback when you tell them the parking brake is "set"

Occasional showers and CB's.
