Thumbs up Youngest Airline Captain

hi everyone,

just curious to know who is/was the youngest airline pilot on the Boeing or Airbus fleets. Also, if possible the youngest person to fly a B744 in command.
I am sure with the wealth of knowledge ppl have on this forum, these questions might be answered.

cheers,

FT

Youngest 747 Captain

I understand that the youngest recorded B747 Captain was 22 years old. I can't recall his name, but he is with United Parcel Service, and has been since they first started flying their own aircraft. I heard this from a former UPS 757 Captain.

The UPS pilot was Ed Maxwell. In May 1990 he became a 747 captain at 25. There is some more info about him at the AOPA website.

I believe Easyjet had a Captain at 23 who then became a Training Captain at the age of 27. Do I win a bonus prize for that?

In the US you have to be 23 to hold an ATP so that's the youngest age someone could be in command of any sort of airliner, even small turboprops.
