Minimum JAR hours for single pilot IFR.

Speaking to a mate of mine this evening about single pilot IFR and the following came up.

He is current with his multi and his IR and looking at flying a PA31 but has been informed that he cannot operate single pilot IFR with pax untill he has a minimum of 700 total time.

Can anyone shed some light on this JAR reg and also a ref to were I can find it written down somewhere.

rgds,
GP.

JAR specifies 700 hrs for IFR public transport. Can't remember where the blurb is written.

The regulation can be found in JAR-OPS 1.960 and states the requirement of 700 hours total of which 400 must be in command.

What about Single Pilot IFR flying cargo?? Does that still come under public transport???

Is it the same 700 hours with 400 PIC ?

Thanks

Public Transport rules are the same whether Pax or Cargo I believe. Aerial work can be undertaken without the hours requirement.
