Biz Jet to Commercial

I put this in the biz jet section and only got a couple of replies so trying a wider topic area (maybe).

If someone has a 1000 hrs on something between 5-15 tonnes do they still have a good chance of getting with the long haul carriers?

I noticed an advert from Singapore airlines in FI and it stated "2500 hrs with commercial jet and international experience". Would it count?

Some might argue they like the life of bizjet flying and never leave but I was wondering how someone can get a look in flying something fast and small to large and slow (ish, momentum wise).
