Cockpit Technology Question

Hello all,
I am gathering data at the moment for a college dissertation.
The idea behind the dissertation is "How have cockpits become safer and more ergonomical for the pilot.

For example, the heating / air-con / lighting / EFIS / Flight Automation etc..
If there are any pilots out there that have any experience with older aircraft cockpits, or current glass cockpit pilots, i would be interested in hearing your views on how technology has benefited you "the pilot".

Also if anyone wants to argue that technology has a negative effect i would be interested also.

Thanks.

Are you limiting your discussion to airline flight decks or are you interested in fighters? I can span Lightning to Typhoon if you are interested.

Human factors

I might be able to help from the human factors point of view, what people are good at versus what computers are good at etc. Additionally what variables are considered in preliminary cockpit design.

PM me if I can help.

Cheers
