Logging Flight Time - FAA

Rumor is that in the near future the FAA is considering amending rules so that a pilot may only log flight time while actually flying an aircraft, simulator or approved FTD. The new rule would exclude autopilot or autonomous mode flight as loggable PIC flight time. Can anyone verify or discredit this rumor?

So if it can't be logged as PIC then it's OK for the Captain, F/O and any relief pilots to go aft and sleep/watch the in-flight, flirt/chat with the FAs while the auto makes the radio calls, checks the nav, fuel states, Ts and Ps etc, and rectifies accordingly.

I don't think so!
