This sort of thing should only be covered in a proper Type Rating course IMHO - utterly pointless otherwise. If you can cope with clockwork instruments, EFIS-type instruments will be no problem.

Spot on, Gin Slinger. Sounds like something you could learn from FS2000 or so. Don't think airlines would care either, as you'd easily pick it up in the sim when the time comes.

As Gin Slinger has said, there is not a lot of point in paying for a course in advance. Different operators will have various different SOPs, and also different 'styles' of flight director (i.e., Rockwell-Collins "Arrow" type, Conventional Cross Needles etc). Some operators will require crews to call every change of Flight Modes as indicated on the Primary Flight Display, and others will need just pitch modes called.

I know that any competent pilot should be able to get to grips with EIS/EFIS type displays with minimum angst.....however, do beware of fixating and information overload, as these may well impinge on your Situational Awareness.
