Max age for TRI?

Could somebody tell me if there is a maximum age limit in the JAR for a TRI to give line training? It seems a bit strange that an instructor above 60 is not allowed to fly with a qualified person over 60 yet he is allowed to fly with a not fully qualified pilot (Line Training).

It is pretty stupid and beauracratic that ANYONE who can pass a Class 1 Medical should be barred from flying just because he/she has passed his/her sixtieth birthday!.

There is NO MEDICAL EVIDENCE to support this and it is purely agesism!

And of course BALPA did nothing for 30 years to try to change it as they made all their pilots retire at 55.

Roll on 2006!! The EU has to be good for something!
