licence currency
Hello everybody
Can someone enlighten me as to the Take off and land currency requirements (Night Day etc) to maintain an ATPL
Having moved out of Airline flying where the subject never came up to Corporate flying and the CAA website doesn't help
Thanks all

Nelly,
It is not in the CAA bumph. It is contained in JAR-FCL1. I do not have a copy to hand so can't give you the reference at the moment.
However, The JAR requirement is 3 landings in 90 days to carry passengers. This can be extended to 120 days for "experienced crews". There is no requirement for night recency if you hold a valid IR on type (or class for MEP and SEP). If you do not hold an IR then one of the three must have been at night.
There are no requirements for recency if you are not carrying passengers. There are no curency requirements to maintain your ATPL so long as you pass your LST.
Your own company may specify strickter requirements in their OPs Manual though.

You wouldn't happen to have a reference for the above?
I struggle to maintain currency, but would probably qualify as an "experienced" crew member. Being able to extend the qualifying period to 120 days would be a big help.

Why do it if it's not fun?

First of all, it is not the license which needs to be kept curernt, it is the type or class rating. Doesn't make any difference, as far as I know, whether it's a PPL or an ATPL. What does make a difference, though, is whether the flight is operated under JAR-OPS or not.
JAR-FCL 1, section 1.026 (page 7 of the linked document), lists the requirements of "Recent experience for pilots not operating in accodordance with JAR-OPS 1". These requirements are as per Miles' post, except that they must be on an aircraft of the appropriate type/class, and they may be on a flight simulator.
For flights under JAR-OPS, the requirements are in JAR-OPS 1, section 1.968, which is on page 131. These requirements are very similar to the requirements in JAR-FCL, but with the additional rule that the 90 days may be extended to 120 days "by line flying under the supervision of a Type Rating Instructor or Examiner". For periods beyond 120 days, the recency requirement is satisfied by a training flight or use of a Flight Simulator.
Hope that helps,
FFF

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately in our one aeroplane, BizJet operation we do not have the luxury of a training Captain, even though we are all ex-airline Captains with loads of experience on type.
So it's back to doing the three circuits every now and again!
