First air brake/speed brake?

Forgive me if such a dumb question has been asked here before but recently I heard a claim that the air-brake or speed-brake was not used on any aircraft of any kind prior to 1930. This bugs the hell out of me as a trivia question because there's a prior example buzzing around in the recesses of my brain which I cannot pin down. Perhaps a Naval aircraft? Perhaps an air racer? Certainly struts and bracing wires provided quite sufficient drag to slow early-century aircraft most effectively the instant the throttle was closed - but I'm sure that somewhere in one of those old issues of 'The Aeroplane' or 'RAF Flying Review' I saw photos of a precedent...earlier than 1930.

Can anyone help set an old man's over-revved mind at rest...?

Iwalkedaway (so it qualified as a landing)

De H 80a Puss Moth, March 1930; the u/c fairings swivel to act as airbrakes.....

Unless somebody knows differently---- Maybe on the Nostalgia forum... and it`s probably some early dive- bomber !
