On Board Aviation Security Work
Hello folks,
I apologise if this is the wrong place to ask this question, but hopefully someone might be in the know and can assist ?
Can anyone tell me where or who I can apply to, to get a job to do with on board aircraft security in the UK ? I have heard about people who work for companies escorting items of value, plus others to do with dealing with troublesome passengers etc
I am an ex Police Officer ( who didnt leave under a cloud ! ).... and I would really like to get involved in this kind of work.
Can anyone help ?
If it assists and is more convenient , my e mail address is :-
[email protected]
Many thanks
Ian H

Hmm... no, it's not really the right place, but I'm not sure where is! I'll try moving this to Questions in the hope that some of those that populate that forum can help you.
You may well start by contacting the big private security firms - Securicor etc. They do have aviation security contracts, and I'm sure they would welcome ex-police officers. Otherwise, try a Google search for Aviation Security - that should give you a few clues.
Good luck!

Not sure. Perhaps if you contact the Dept. Transport since they seem to be coordinating the hysteria.
Just a thought: What if the fact that you want to be part of airborne security is a disqualifying factor?

Both the above are worthy but having been in avaition security for 24 years until a few years ago it will be very difficult and you might do better to contact as many courier companies as you can to see if they have work of this sort. Also try Amex at Brighton.

Air Marshals
Evening IANh
These people were advertising in Pathfinder magazine, and mention that people with a law enforcement background would be suitable
Security Air Marshals Recruitment Agency
15 st Johns Court
Rochdale
Lancashire OL16 5TF
e mail [email protected]
They are after 180 Air Marshals for '04, so I dont know if it is a little late to apply, but it could be worth looking at.
They describe the job as;
"Responding to criminal incidents aboard national air carriers, as well as other in flight emergencies while preserving the safety of aircraft, crew, and passengers. Other duties involve performing inspections and evaluations to determine compliance with procedures affecting avaiation security. Air Marshals are authorised to carry stun guns and make arrests"
They do say they dont want phone enquiries, and if you apply they send you full package of job details. I will try and scan the original ad and e-mail it to you on Monday, if you want.

One other thing, they also said if you are interested, reply in writing along with CV to the address given in my last post.
