You only have to show that you can pass the same ground exams & flight tests as the fellas. (That should not be difficult for any half sharp female)
From then on, you get to play with the big boys' toys, on fairly equal terms

Hold it there Chesire Cat, I beg to differ! :p I seem to remember a report not too long ago about men and women pilots. I can't remember the exact figures so i'll use creative licence and make them up to fit my argument. All the same....

A vast majority of aviation accidents involving women were due to loss of control or loss of situational awareness. Men, on the other hand, suffered accidents because of over confidence and cockiness (i.e. flying when the weather was marginal etc).

Now, one of these can be put right with an attitude change, the other is in-built and, for the purposes of my argument, unchangeable. :)

That should put the 'cat' amongst the pigeons as it were. :D ;)

You may have found the following comments..

Watch out for the 'token' female thing. If enough airlines adopt it and employ enough females it may just burst our bubble.
I have no issue with female pilots but personaly I will say my own unresearched amature statistics show the following.
I have flown with twelve instructors/pilots in the US and UK, under instruction, rectreationaly and once for personal gain .
Male. one crap, 7 good, 2 exceptional.
Female. 2 good.

Now percentage wise I say this looks very worrying for us blokes, watch out.

Seriously though I have heard of and read of advantages for each sex, so far it seems equal.
Hopefuly, eventualy partiy will exist between both sexes in this trade. I can see no reason why it shouldn't.

This predominantly male trade is being invaded by the 'fairer' sex. One day we will see jobs being taken by the better pilot regardless of sex.

I whole-heartedly agree with twinkletoes -
I'm wanting to one day be known as a GREAT professional pilot....
... not a FEMALE professional pilot.

Joking aside, you'll always get the good and bad in both sexes, and I'm sure most people would be equally as happy to work with either sex as long as they did a good job.

At least I would like think so, bit sad if not eh. I don't think I'd trust anyone who had a real problem with someone just on the basis of sex (ie. a problem with the other person's sex, not a problem WITH sex itself, after all, that's for a GP to sort out or a psychologist if the problem is deeper rooted). :p

Just to balance things up a bit, please bear in mind that women who become pilots, have chosen to work in what certainly used to be a male dominated world.

Apart from aviation, where else could a women be certain of being surrounded by all-action men, at least some of whom, look simply lovely in uniform?

I should have mentioned in previous postings, that you might like to consider joining the British Women Pilots' Asocciation. Its web site is www.bwpa.com.
Membership is open to everyone from student pilots, to airline & military pilots. AND it is non-sexist, as men are allowed to join!
The BWPA produces a lot of useful info for wannabes, & also runs flying & social events.
