Thanks for your replies and apologies for the delay replying my end. Genuine smile my end at your responses - happy to hear. I did actually join one of the webinars this year and did ask a question, so you may have seen me :)
I appreciate the comment, logistically it would be near impossible for me. I live in Dudley, my wife is a practice nurse, we have 2 kids (6 & 9) - I couldn't ask for all to move towards London (even if we could afford it). Yes a little bit of negativity (probably why I'm still reading/posting 15 years on ) . On the flip side, I'm fortunate to WFH and for those local, you might see me at Halfpenny Green sometime soon when I stop making excuses :) Hopefully my comments will come as a lesson for those younger, make it happen before life catches up with you. Good luck to you all, hopefully you can be flying me away on a trip in a few years :) What I’m getting at is it’s entirely possible, many people at BA/Virgin etc live far further away, across plenty of different countries even, and make it work fine. Granted if you got Euroflyer you’d be a little stuck logistically but Heathrow would be along before too long. You could make it work. |

it says that you have exceeded your private message space when I try and send you a message. Any chance you can delete a few messages and I’ll try again? Unless it’s a bug on my end.
I've deleted them. Try again. |
Sent you a Pm. Also, totally missed like 3 pm's from other people thanks for reaching out everyone else. I have replied to all of them so hopefully i can be added to the whatsapp group soon. :)

Hi, great to meet you all. I was fortunate enough to get an October start with Skyborne, would be great to be added to a WhatsApp group if there's anyone coordinating that?
|
I'm going to be 18 for next years intake and I'm currently in college doing Engineering. If anybody has tips on what to do for the next year to make myself the best candidate please PM me or reply to this message. Due to my location I cant do any sort of airport work or airline work experience. I have however done 11 PPL hours and been to flight school open days. Any help is appreciated!:ok:

Hey, I’ve also got an October start date with Skyborne and would love to join/ start a WhatsApp chat. I’ve not seen anyone mention a chat for the October intake specifically so let me know and we can get one going if one doesn’t already exist 😊

Before you all disappear into your WhatsApp chats 😂 it would be great if those who were successful (or close) could share tips for next year’s intake please while it’s all still fresh in your minds.
What to do now as an 17/18 year old looking to prepare for applying next year? What resources did you use for the early tests for situational judgement, maths, error checking and for the PA announcement? Did you have to make your own PA announcement or did you just have to read something out? What experience to get, or preparation to do, for the assessment day and interviews? What did you actually do at the assessment day? Any pointers at all would be very much appreciated thanks. |

July Skyborne
Hi all! Lucky enough to get a July start with Skyborne though haven’t seen many posts from others in this cohort. Is there a group chat going for this group at all?
|
A little late to this but if anyone sees this who’s in an FTE group chat could you send me a pm so I can give you my number? This is my first post so it won’t let me message people but I’d love to get to know everyone! :)

Maths
Hi all - first time poster here :)
Is anyone able to clarify which parts of maths are tested within the assessment? I’ve read the thread and can see “GCSE level maths” is the level of difficulty but not really clear what topics are tested. As a future applicant nearing 40 I have not studied in some years and would like to brush up on this. |

Sign up for the Speedbird Academy program, it'll have practice tests for the online tests - situational judgement, maths & checking...it'll then take you right through to the flight school assessments and interview prep. If you get through to the final stage, I'd move to pilotaptitudetest.com, this is where you can practice the technical tests that you'll be doing on the final assessment day. Just to add, if you do get past the initial online assessments, reach out to Stephen AV8 on YouTube & Instagram, this man is a great source of information and can help you prep for those interviews and bring out your matching qualities to help you stand out 😊 Good luck!!! P.S. Im pushing 40 and was selected this year so don't look so negatively at your age, I also hadn't done much maths/physics since GCSEs, with a bit of practice you'll be grand!!! |

Also to jump on the bandwagon, I'm 25 now, will be 26 when I start and 28 when I finish the course. It's honestly so refreshing and relieving to see such a range of ages and backgrounds (family lives etc) being accepted onto the course, I can't wait to meet you all! |
For those looking for tips, I would suggest that by far the most important thing for any applicant is to consider what attributes a BA pilot would need as part of their role (e.g. the pilot competencies), and then ensure that you pursue a variety of life experiences which allow you to develop and demonstrate those attributes. They are also looking for demonstrable passion for aviation, so they can be sure of your commitment to the career. As others have noted, once you begin passing through the various stages, they explain what is required at each stage. For example, this year there was a slidepack which gave examples of the types of questions asked for maths/detail checking etc. You can then search the internet and this forum for how to prepare and practice.
