Fly-In-Spain Jerez Hours Building Tips
 

Hello Guys and Girls,

In just over a week time I am going to Jerez to try to clock up 50hrs in 16 days.

I am total rookie with no PIC time apart from the time included in LAPL training [separate story why LAPL not PPL, not for this thread], and with minimal experience dealing with ATC.

Do you have ANY tips helpful for me regarding flying with F-I-S, flying out of Jerez, flying in Spain in general, weather characteristics, handy equipment to have, and any pitfalls I can avoid?

Any advice welcome.

This will probably sound obvious, but do prepare your flights very completely.
You may be tempted, after 3 hours of flight per day during 16 days, to prepare less and less your flights : don't do that. You need to brief yourself before each one of those.

At the moment I am very nervous and tend to overthink pretty much everything!

You will probably have one or two hours of training with an FI before flying solo.
You can also build your confidence at first with smaller flights.

Jerez is a good place to practice your R/T because the towers in Jerez and Seville are used to many student flights and they are really helpful. Seville approach frequency though gets really crappy sometimes, depending where you're flying (background noise, interference and so on, so might be difficult to understand sometimes but it's an easy airspace in that area).

Weather there is mostly great but I can't tell you during all year how it looks like exactly. I was there in November and then in January and there were just some days on weekends with strong winds that grounded me but that's all. If I had finished the study of all subjects I could have finished my PPL in 4 weeks, but I had to go back to work and return for another week, finish all exams and do my skills test. So I believe you can fly at least 3 hours a day easily. Try to fly 4 and then you will be able to complete in your timetable.

You will be flying mostly to Seville and Córdoba, if you feel confident doing longer trips you can go to Morocco, Portugal or farther in Spain. Just be sure you check the landing fees. It could go close to 180 euro in some airports like Barcelona and Madrid.

Hi guys, I am considering doing a frozen ATPL through Fly-In-Spain. I am starting from zero so it's all a bit overwhelming to me. Would you recommend this flying school? Anything I have to worry about?

Hello everyone, I am considering FIS for my hour building, left approx. 50 hrs to go.
Could someone give me updated info regarding the school in terms of professionalism and instructors? Also would be February a good month to go since I am working?

Thank you. I have heard different opinion in regards to FIS. Have you had direct experience with them?

Thx for the feedback I will consider it. Where did you build your hours then? Do you have any suggestions? I have very limited time as I work full time therefore I need an efficient school where I can fly everyday during my time off.
