Approach checklist question 737-800
From the checklist:
"Position landing gear lever down, flap lever to the 15 detent. Position engine start switches to CONT. Check RECALL" What does detent mean? What would "Check RECALL" be referring to in the above instance? GPWS "PLUS HUNDRED" What is the GPWS plus hundred check referring to in the approach to landing? Thanks |
You know 'detent' isn't specific to aviation?! You can always google it.
|
Did google it before i asked the question, still unsure
|
It's the bit that the flap lever locates into when you select a flap setting. There is a gate to prevent the flap lever moving past flap 15 inadvertently (and flap 1).

Ok i see, it just really means lock the flap lever into 15 position thanks

Plus hundred- call out made by the gpws aircraft system 100 feet above the minima you have selected on the PFD using the efis control panel.
Two detents on the 737 Flap 1 - for inadvertent movement above during a single engine go around to prevent flaps being moved beyond flap one Flap 15- again standard go around all engine uses flap 15 so the detent again stops inadvertent movement beyond the 15 position. |
