SECOND HAND KNOWLEDGE - I haven't been there, but was told;

Aircraft are wet leased from another school and EFT are not at the top of the list for access - if you mkiss your 'slot' for any reason (weather?) there is no chance of rescheduling.

Office accommodation is sparce - very small administration office that doubles as the briefing room (with the secretary looking on as she types) and debriefing room. No real facilities.

Have also been told that the staff there include the legendary Trevor and Ben (read numerous threads for more on them) and, now, a brand new (trained by them) flying instructor to help them out.

Trevor and Ben both have an excellent record (equally second hand information) of training standards.

So - two trains of thought there. Some good - some bad.

Feel free to e-mail me for further info.
I will just quickly say that since their first students early March this year, they have completed atleast 9 individual training programmes. Their website is excellent www.europeanflighttraining.com click on the 'newsletter' and it shows a 'hall of fame' full of their satisfied customers.
Cheers

Silly question really but who's going to put negitive comments on their own website?

go 1st June 2001 12:30

just done my fir course with them ,the course was run very well..we had trevor for 8 hours a day for five weeks we only had one problem with the a/c going tech which isnt too bad..they have the use of numerous briefing rooms but i agree the office space is abit small but i didnt spend too much time in the office..they dont have a secretery they do the administration themselves.and we had no problem with slots as we were usually on time for our time slots..im sure other schools may keep your slot if you turn up late but i dont know them myself..anyway new school with excellent instructors and you can trust them they want no money up front all you need is to keep yr account in credit so you have nothing to lose,,good luck..

herniair 2nd June 2001 03:13

It's them again but Anderson (has he crashed?) is still missing !!!
EFT, OFT, SFT, WFT & Co. may be totally f.. orgasmic, in the opinion of their friends and fiction here, but they really should spend more on advertising, websites, advertising by actually paying PPRuNe etc, instead of posting and piss-taking for free.

go 2nd June 2001 12:50

herniair you really seem to have missed the point of pprune...

I would say pprune is to pass info on good or bad to pilots ...Now eft have been trading since january....they have trained about 11 pilots on one course or other ..unless you and I are the only ones with computers and perhaps they havnt heard of pprune they dont seem to be coming fwd with any negative comments about the school,,,I think you will find that when people have a bad experience.(like at another school in melbourne),you will certainly hear about it....now why dont you say nothing unless its constructive..where did you do your flight training...if it was any good perhaps you could let us all know???

ANDERSON 2nd June 2001 14:54

HENRIAIR HEALTH WARNING

Henriair-
Why the offensive comments.
Having individuals around like you is a good reason for any company not investing money in pprune advertising

GO-
I agree with you but do not get upset by Henriair he is a spent force and should be exposed for what he is.For your info he is not training for any ratings but is providing training in the UK.That is why he is bashing the very successful US based FTO's because he is feeling the pinch with more and more wannabee's making the decision to continue their training outside of Europe.

pprune should always be for the honest and positive exchange of views on any aviation related subject.

Good Luck to everybody trying to get new ratings.

Here we go again!....................

Harvey SM 3rd June 2001 10:53

BlueBaron -
Yes it was a silly question??
I was simply stating that their website has page of satisfied customers (I don't know of other schools that have done this on their sites).
Anyway, Curley I will e-mail you later... things got a tad busy the past couple of days.

BLUEBARON 3rd June 2001 21:37

Harvey sm,

Don't get me wrong i think their website is first rate. I was only pointing out that you are really only getting the opinions of satified customers. They are hardly going to put some-one on there that had and awful time and slated them.

That said there may not be any unsatisfied customers!

herniair 4th June 2001 03:00

Anderson lives ! (to recruit for EFT)
Their 11 (eleven) students since January is pathetic and, as BB points out, statistically insignificant, even if everyone recommending EFT is not a stooge.
The main CAA/JAA schools in the US (Ormond Beach Aviation, UKFT, Britannia etc.) must have trained thousands.
I have no interest in where anyone trains and, in fact, Florida seems to be superior for JAA PPL if you have at least three weeks and the right attitude. The main criticism seems to be 'too much flying' !
The main criticisms of UK training are:
-aircraft always booked by members or being repaired
- club/school/instructors are 'nine to five'
- pressure to buy more hours/ground school, 'you're not ready' etc.
- other hidden extras, such as R/T, books, landing fees and medical, which are not mentioned when you ask 'how much for a PPL?'
Hope this helps.

Harvey SM 4th June 2001 10:26

BlueBaron,
No worries.....
Herniair - Urm.... I think that 11 students is significant (by the way their first students started in March and not January??)
Also the fact that the only staff are the two co-owners Trevor Brackston and Ben Wood (however I believe they have a newly appointed instructor on the books now)
Obviously other schools such as the ones you mentioned have, of course produced more students but of then they have been established for a number of years.

Blindside 4th June 2001 12:13

Is it a flight school or a cult??

They seem to have some fanatical followers!

Best regards

blindside...very funny...iv got the tee shirt, all praise the lord braxton and his high priest the venerable wood..I am a follower and will summon others of the pprune faith to follow...I think herinair could be a convert??

ANDERSON 5th June 2001 15:18

HENRIAIR-

READ MY LIPS I HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH ANY FLIGHT SCHOOL IN THE US OR UK OK.

You made some good points in your last post lets keep this debate alive and help all wannabee's.

You mentioned to much flying in the US is that such a bad thing or are you implying
that more time needs to be spent on ground school.

rogerdodger 6th June 2001 23:41

It would be handy if you had an email address! I too am interested in attending this particular school and would be most grateful if you could email me ([email protected]) and I will give you my contact details.

Regards.

rogerdodger 8th June 2001 12:07

I have read thru a lot of the previous postings and I am finding that nobody has complained about the training at EFT.
One burning question I have is what are the aircraft like ?
