aplicants and retirements per year
just a question i know it may not be the right time to ask questions like this due to the current downfall in the market but stastically
1) what is the % of pilots say this year will retire? 2) how many pilots would be required if the events of sept 11 didnt occur? 3) i heard many of the last generation pilots are coming to the end of there commercial flying careers and so there will be a shortage of pilots..(info from occupations handbbok)this is due to also this age limit thay have of 55 in many countries apprecaite any feedback |
Can't speak for the European market but in the U.S most major airlines already have over 10,000 applications on file for pilots.
While there will be a shortage of pilots in the future the shortage will be for qualified pilots (eg: over 3000 hours turbine, Jet PIC time) or so and the second sector will be the CFI sector because a lot of these pilots are being taken up by regional airlines. The shortage is a great sales gimmick for flight schools and they are taking full advantage of it.While statistically in some was you could argue there will be a shortage, on the whole it is nothing more than a sales gimmick. Just work on your license and keep building your experience. That has been the only way and will be the only way to a successfull pilot career. |
