Hi,

I have been monitoring cabair's flying programmes for a while now as i intend to start my pilot training in the next year or so and im (as im sure many others as well) are overwhelmed by the differenet courses on offer. Their pro-pilot course looks quite interesting yet still financially more attractive than a lot of other course providers. This can be seen from their website.

Of course as it is in the USA, due to fuel prices it would be cheaper than undertaking a similarly structured course in the UK, but i would appreciate anyones opinion on Cabair, especially Orlando Flight Training (where the majority of my time would be spent, on both ATPL theory and flying). This course would mean that i would fly to FAA specifications first, then convert over to the required JAA ME IR in a DA42 G1000 aircraft & sim.

Their Pro-Pilot programme consists of two phases:

PHASE ONE (USA)

800 hours ATPL theoretical knowledge training
45 hours SE PPL training - PA28 aircraft
95 hours SE hour building PA28 aircraft
30 hours SE training C172 G1000 aircraft
10 hours SE training C172 G1000 simulator
10 hours SE CPL training PA28 aircraft
8 hours ME CPL training BE76 aircraft
Jet Orientation Course in 737-NG simulator

PHASE TWO (UK)

10 hours ME IR Conversion DA42 G1000 aircraft
10 hours ME IR Conversion DA42 G1000 simulator
MCC Course

Phase One costs $50-52,000 (depending on whether you pay in monthly installments)
Phase Two costs £7,995-£8,995 (again, depending on how you pay)

Total costs around the £40,000 mark.

After visiting the Flyer Exb in LDN-Heathrow, this course seems to be ligitimate from a UK stand point, but i have read some peoples comments on their experiences in the USA (OFT) regarding maintenance and most would not recommend (although this course does seem to use newer aircraft).

If anyone has any comments this would be much appreciated!
