Hour building in Europe

I am looking into hour building, unfortunately I shall be restricted to completing it either in the UK or possibly one of our fellow European countries.

I have researched joining a group etc, the purpose of this post is to gain info/advice relating to block booking aircraft.

Shared experiences of hour building within europe including pro's and cons in each case would be greatly appreciated

:D cheers fellow aviators

The cheapest country in Europe must be Sweden at the moment; I'm paying about EUR 50/hr for a DA 20/100. The best place to start looking for clubs is www.privatflygaren.nu , from the menu on the left choose "bli pilot", afterwards "klubbar". Youth hostel accomodation is about EUR 15/day, most of the poeple speak good english. Give it a try!

Hi - dunno about Sweden (good prices :ok: it seems), but I know for a fact that in France you can rent a Robin DR400-120 for 90 Euros/hour (i.e. £60) wet.

Landing fees are just about non-existent, and ATC is happy to work in English (during ATC hours). There are only four types of airspace (A, D, E, G) - most of France being Class G until FL 195.

The only trick is the number of MIL-Restricted areas to check before going on a long X-country (but you can also do that in flight by calling the nearest airbase). There are no MATZs (instead it's Class D airspace just like any other civilian airport), no LARS, and Flight Information Service is available just about everywhere.

Spain is meant to be also 20-25% cheaper than Britain, and CAVOK for most of the year...

Hope that helps

Cheers :cool:

I hour build in Yorkshire for;

£63 C150
£73 Piper Cadet
£76 Piper Warrior

I'm about to take a cadet/warrior away for 30 hours. Intend to fly to Southern Spain and back, from Yorkshire, over about 4-5 days. In fact, this forum is taking me away from the stack of VFR charts I bought two days ago!!

Best of both worlds, flying abroad and having to plan the whole bl**dy thing too! I'm well excited....
