TCAS or Controller

Hi guys and gals

This one is really for those flying commercially but all comments
are welcome. I was watching the final episode of crowded skies on BBC yesterday evening, It focused on the mid-air collision between the Russian airliner and DHL cargo jet that occurred July last. My question is what would you do if and I do hope none of you are ever faced with it, you found yourself sitting in a similar situation would you respond to the cockpit warning system's command or follow the oral commands issued by the controller, what is the procedure? A very sad outcome for absolutely everyone involved.

safe flying
