Part Time?

I was reading literature and reading websites about becoming an airline pilot, and one website mentioned that there are a few pilots flying for United Airlines, for example, that also happened to be doctors, dentists, and accountants.

I am wondering how they are able to do this. Do they only fly part time? Are they doctors part time? How does this work?

Why do it if it's not fun?

Never heard of a part-time airline pilot, although I'm not going to deny they exist. But there are plenty of other part-time pilots, especially in general aviation. Instructors, for example, or aerial photography pilots, who fly at the weekend while holding down a day-job during the week.
