Lightbulb 1000 Agk Q&a

Can anyone help me? I have been told that there is a book on the market with 1000 AGK Q&A with the solutions as well. Does anyone know the author? or even the website that I can buy it form?

Any help would be appreciated.

I think I saw it in the latest Transair catalogue. Obviously not suggesting you buy it from them, but it might provide you with a title/author at least. And yes, i am too lazy to actually go and look and find out for you.

Oh all right its "1000 Q+A and Explanations for JAR ATPL and CPL" but the bad news is they want 35 squid per subject

Good luck

I think you will find these are the Keith Williams books - if you do a search on "Keith Williams" you'll probably find a lot of info. I used two of his books and was happy to pay the cash to increase my chances of getting a good grade. They were pretty good.

these Q&A are from the progress tests held at the FTO I attend. I have seen a lot of them in feedback from other sources as well.

„« The anti-ice system uses? Bleed air from the engines.
„« The purpose of ditching control is to? Close the outflow valve.
„« The conditions for highest engine power? Cold and dry air at high pressure.
„« The purpose of a trim tab device is to? Reduce or cancel control forces.
„« Cross feeding from fuel tanks? Allows feeding to any engine.
„« Where in the hydraulic system are the overheat indicators? At the pumps.
„« The power output of a piston engine can be calculated by? Torque x rpm.
„« A fan stage of a ducted fan turbine engine is driven by? The low pressure turbine.
„« When the combustion gases pass through a turbine? The pressure drops.
„« The hydraulic oil entering the hyd. Pumps is slightly pressurized to? Prevent pump capitation.
„« Hydraulic power is expressed of? System pressure + volume of flow.
„« Fuel system boost pumps are used to? Avoid the bubbles accumulation and feed the line with fuel, for directing it to the engine at a positive pressure.
„« In modern hyd. Systems hyd. Fuses can be found. Their function is? To prevent total system loss in a case of a leaking hyd. Line.
„« Regarding cabin differential pressure. The required valve in normal flight conditions is regulated by? A constant mass airflow is permitted.
„« If the cabin pressure becomes negative? The negative pressure relief valve will open.
„« During a normal pressurized climb after take-off the? Cabin pressure decreases more slowly than atmospheric pressure outside the aircraft.
„« When increasing TAS? AoA of a fixed prop reduces.
„« When increasing TAS? AoA of a constant speed prop increases.
„« An EPR gauge reading normally, shows the ratio of? Jet pipe pressure to compressor inlet pressure.
„« The fan in a high by-pass ratio turbo jet engine produces? The greater part of thrust.
„« A gas turbine engine power change is achieved by? Changing the amount of fuel supplied.
„« The cabin ROD is? The cabin pressure rises.
„« In a modern jet airplane, how can landing gear be extended if there is a complete hydraulic system failure? Mechanically.
„« The purpose of baffle check valves in fuel tanks is? To prevent fuel movement to the wingtip.
„« The cabin altitude rises (aircraft in level flight) the differential pressure? Decreases.
„« A hyd. Device similar to an electronic diode is a? Check valve.
„« For a fan jet engine the by-pass ratio is? External airflow mass divided by the internal air flow mass.
„« When the combustion gases pass through a turbine the? Temperature drops.
„« Concerning the anti-skid system, what happens to the pressure? It decreases on the slower turning wheels.
„« In a bootstrap cooling system, the supply of air first? Compressed, then goes through a heat exchanger and across an expansion turbine.
„« What is the purpose of the pack cooling fans in the air condition system? Supplying the heat exchangers with cooling air during slow flight and ground operation.
„« Engine bleed air used for air conditioning and pressurization in turbojet aircrafts is usually taken from the? Compressor section.
„« In commercial transport aircraft the landing gear system is usually hydraulic.
„« Thrust is achieved by the following formula? Force = mass x acceleration.
„« When does the exhaust valve open? Before the B.D.C. of the power stroke.
„« The camshaft turns with? Half the revolutions of the crankshaft.
„« The primary function of an axial flow compressor stator vane is to act as a diffuser. What is the secondary function? Control the direction of the air to each stage of the compressor.
„« What is the main purpose of the combustion section secondary air? Cooling of the liner gases.
„« What purpose does the needle valve have in a carburetor? It controls the amount of fuel inside the float chamber.
„« A fully fuel injected engine has the advantage of being? Fully aerobatic and not so susceptible to inlet icing.
„« After a nice flight in a airplane with a fuel injected engine you decide to take a rest at an airport. It is 25¢XC OAT. When you shut the engine down you must be aware that the engine? Might perform a vapor lock.
„« Manifold pressure is measured at the appropriate point in the? Induction system.
„« Which statement is true regarding axial flow compressors? The speed at the tips of all rotating airfoils within the engine is carefully governed to keep the airflow over any part of the engine form creating shock waves.
„« The primary function of an axial flow compressor stator vane is to act as an diffuser. What is the secondary function? Control the direction of the air to each stage of the compressor.
„« Carburetor icing is most likely to occur in? Venturi and throttle valve.
„« How do you cool nozzle guide vanes? By bleed air from the compressor section.
„« What is the primary purpose of the NGV? A) Convert pressure energy to kinetic energy. B) Impart the highest speed possible to the gas and direct it at the correct angle to the turbine. C) Guide the surplus of air trapped in turbines overboard. D) Both A and B are correct. D is the correct answer.
„« Which one of the following items uses engine bleed air for operation? A) NGV B) Turbine blades C) Pneumatic anti-icing D) All of the above. D is correct.

enjoy.
