IR Computer Software
Hi all.
I am due to start the IR flying module next week and was wondering is there any worth in purchasing a computer IFR sim such as ELITE, FlitePro?
If it is worth it, which one would you say is the best to help me with my IR training? Is the Jeppesen FlitePro IFR Sim a good bet or a complete waste of whats left of my so called CASH.
Any advise would be appreciated.

RANT is excellent IMHO, although it's not really a flight-sim. I'm only a humble IMCer, but i've got far more use out of RANT than FS2002. There's a demo, so you can try it for free

Well, if you're looking for something cheap but not as "dumb" as FS, you might want to take a closer look at X-Plane (Win/Mac).
It's far less expensive than ELITE and Jepp (60$ + shipping) and all the algorithms stuffed in it make it much more "real" than FS. I've been amazed by what you can do with this sim.

Definately buy RANT. I held off buying it and that was my biggest mistake on the IR.
I can't remember if Elite does ADF DIP but RANT surely does and £90 and several hundred hours flying holds and appoaches in varying wind conditions will pay off hundreds of times over.
For other IFR flying I use microsoft fligt sim. It seems to do everything else apart from DIP reasonably well.

RANT is the Radio Aids Navigation Tutor. We have a copy at work, and I have found it helpful for revision as I cannot keep up regular IF. The current version is RANT 2000, and is available from Oddsoft, whose website is www.oddsoft.co.uk . Good luck on the course!
