I do software support. Thing is, the software is so damn good, no one ever trobles me with any problems. I spend all day on the internet. After 5 months, internet got a bit boring, but now I've discovered PPRuNe ..... entertained for years.

I am a telecomms consultant and likewise spend most of my day (when i'm in the office)on the internet, looking at PPrune.
When I have been on selection tests I got the impression most people there were either in the aviation industry or I.T. I was therefore wondering if airlines tended to pick these kind of proffesions over others?
P.S Anyone need a new Network in the office?

Army for a bit, now self employed management consultanct - as with the chaps above, I'm usually involved with IT in finance. I should not be at all surprised if many of the forthcoming replies involve IT related occupations - the money is frequently excellent and as a consultant the opportunity for extended time off is ever present (although not always welcome!) So there you have it - if you want to be an airline pilot and your parents aren't swimming in the crisp and folding, get into IT (or management consultancy but at the risk of offending everyone else, it does take years to build up a reputation).

An IT student here. Seems to be loads of IT people on PPRUNE.
It would be interesting to find out whether we really have a bigger interest in aviation or whether it's just we're more used to using the net and therefore appear to be a high percentage of PPRUNE users.

I fly the Victor airways, set my autopilot and switch my vhf radio to the next controller.
Once you are in a company, the job is always the same.flight plan, weather briefing, preflight, flight, post flight and my money at the end of the month.
I tried the adventure in the USA,and it works!
