Talking For those going to Mildenhall Air Fete 2001....

Saturday looks like it's gonna be the nicest day to go. Hopefully nice and sunny (mid 70's) and the beer will be nice and chilled.

I hope one of the stealths will show up, I've still yet to see the fighter or the bomber fly.

Yes Yes and YES AGAIN!
I was panicing that the weather was going to be rubbish, but if you say so, I believe you!
Damn it, I'm sooooo excited. I seen both bomber and fighter fly at last years show, fantastic, bomber more so...Beer and BBQ will excel again, I'm sure
Anyway - have a great day everyone, for best viewing, get near the tower! Anyone going to have any distiguishing features so I can say hi if I see you - I'll be the one with a beer in one hand and a 1/4 pounder in the other (not very distinguishing I know )

Regards

Mike

Popped down to Mildenhall today for a bit of a warm up.

Saw three Hercules, three choppers (can't remember the name!) and a KC.135 in formation. Also saw C.17 and loads of F.15s at Lakenheath - loud? Woah!!
I would say Friday would be a good day to see the static aircraft arrive. F.14, E.3 AWACKS etc, but no doubt the Mildy aircraft will be warming up from now onwards.

MikeS - I will be the bald and podgy guy with a burnt slap! Oh, and a Bud in one hand and a burger in the other!

VFE.

For all those wannabes who want to save money this weekend why not try the Southend Airshow (Sun-Mon. The flying display includes many of the same aircraft flying at Mildenhall (Remember last year's appearance of the F-117 Stealth). And how much does this cost I hear you ask ? well NOTHING that right it's FREE and it comes with a beach aswell (Get the Beer Coolers out I'm off to Southend not to Mildenhall)

Better still, Mildenhall on Saturday with the predicted good weather, then Southend Sunday and Monday!

I plan to be in aviation heaven for THREE SOLID DAYS!!!

Southend flying starts at 1330 to I think 1730. Don't forget at Southend airport there is a Vulcan bomber, XL426, that is due to do a high speed taxi on Sunday and Monday between 1100 and 1200. That noise will bring back memories!

Have a good one....

Cannot spot the F.14 on the website programme but in the intro to the page it says it will be there.
I didn't see it on Look East news this evening either and they were talking about the special aircraft that would be there so........we'll see!

Five Hamburgers, four Hotdogs and two Double Choc Chip Cookies (and a cuppa Tea+shed loads of water)!! Anyone wanna beat that?

No F.14 but "the German dude in the Tornado really revved it some!!" The words of my Aussie pal who is over here at the mo and came along!!

Great day - now time for bed!!

Cant beat the burger/hotdog record, but once again, had a great day...Sunburnt every piece of uncovered flesh, as I forgot the suncream , but displays were excellent. Had a chat with a Lear 35 pilot, and had a look round inside his plane...Very smart, but small as well. Favourite display...Patrouille de France were great, but the Mirage 2000 was excellent once again. Tornado - V. Impressive!!!!

Back next year for more...

Regards

Mike

VFE,

Every year I used to go, my friends and I had a competition on how many burgers, sausages and buds we could eat and drink in a day.

The record stands at around 11 buds, 11 burgers and 5 hot dogs. I'll let u know if the fat b****** beats it this year.

Sunny Southend superb weather and great to see Sally B back in the air after the last couple of years with engine trouble on Guernsey (lets hope this will be a better year for her and her supporters).
