Post WWW, thanks for everything.

Since I haven't read the forums for 24 hours and the thread where this would have been most appropriate is now closed, I'll start a new one.

WWW, I often don't agree with what you say, and I've said so in the past. But I completely defend your right to say it. On the whole you do an excellent job moderating this forum. You're not perfect, but who is? And it's not a job I'd want, especially in recent times, when people seem to be taking out their frustrations about the current situation on the nearest person. But I think most of us here appreciate you. We just usually do it quietly. So I decided it was time to stand up and be counted. So...thanks, that's all.

Now don't anyone DARE turn this into a WWW bashing thread!!!!

Whirly,

Good thread. All I can really do is say, well, I have always looked up to WWW, still do, I respect you and I value your opinion. Im my view your moderation is some of the best around, and the help you he offered me personally has been of immense use.

Thanks for all WWW.
Rusty.

Thanks.

I am not immune to criticism and perhaps some of it is valid.

Its a turbulent time for the Wannabes forum. For years I have enjoyed the luxury of a bouyont market.

As we enter the 1st downturn PPRuNe has witnessed many people seem motivated to shoot the messenger. My previous All Encouraging upbeat manner is frankly no longer appropriate...

My skin is, however, way too thick and thus I am able to remain stoicle during these turbulent times.

Cheers,

Cool

I have to say - with risk of sounding like a triumphalist git non-the-less - THANK YOU again to all the guys and gals who have taken time out to send emails of support.

It is for this meagre reward that I continue. And I did consider resigning for 30mins there.

Cheers,

WWW may be the Moderator, but that doesn`t mean he can`t have an opinion....and a boring world it would be if everyone had the same opinion.
I don`t agree with everything that is posted on here, but would you rather WWW got the "There There" cream out or told you the truth about how "pants" employment opportunities are at the moment.
At the end of the day he has got where we all want to be and he still takes time and trouble to come back and offer advice.
You don`t have to like what he or anyone else says, but you don`t have to resort to personal insults.

Good thread, and yes it is time that a thread like this comes round to applaud someone giving (spare) time to assist people in their flying training.

I have gleaned a lot of answers from this site, and where I had a question I feared would be taken over by f+ckwits, an email to www was answered in short time and good nature.

Thank you.

OK people, let's prove that's it's only a very small number of wannabes who are criticising. Come on, silent majority; come on lurkers, WWW deserves our support. Let's get this thread up to 100 posts!!!

How many people would be willing to give up as much of their time giving advice to others? I think WWW deserves a great deal of credit for encouraging us wanabees. And those who don't like his opinions or advice don't have to take it. Keep up the good work WWW, don't resign just because of a few bitter sods who have nothing better to do than knock those who try to help others.

I'll second that, Whirly.

We seem to have a vocal minority on this forum whose idea of sensible debate is to see how many insults they can squeeze into one sentence.

I'm relieved to see there are people as fed up with it as me - keep up the good work WWW, it looks like like you'll not have to buy too many pints at the Gatbash!!

Well, ordinarily I would have given him my full support, but he is a Welshman you know!

WWW. you do an ok job, but you really need to chuck in that GO job, it takes up too much of your time!!

Seriously though, it is difficult for you to be both a moderator and contributor and so often here, other contributors feel that you should not have an opinion. Probably because it doesn't concurr with theirs. As it is, you do have an opinion and for reasons which I do not fully understand, others seem to want to knock you off of your perch. Well, I for one find your posts interesting so WWW don't even think about chucking in the towel

Just delete the posts and profiles just to show them who's boss! Vengence is sweet! YOU HAVE THE POWER!!!

I was always under the impression that been a professional pilot required a certain amount of psychological stability.

Well, in recent weeks, it's hasn't really been displayed much on this site and it's certainly more frequent than when I first registered. If people aren't having a 'jab' at The Guvnor, their having a go at WWW for some very odd and irrelevant reason's. And some of these are aspiring pilots in the Wannabe's forum !!.

Personally, I just choose not to read but doesn't anyone wonder why ?

Jealousy maybe?
Can't hack life in the fast lane?
Pressure of life in the C21st?

Oh let me guess, are we going to blame September 11th for this too?

Sorry, a bit heavy for a Sunday, but I find it amazing that i'm going to be sharing the same airspace with some of these guys!

Edited for spelling!

JB007 - it's the age old story of non one liking bad news and the messenger that bears it gets the blame.

Some people prefer to 'blue sky' things and live in a fantasy world that everything will be all right tomorrow. Er, nope. I suspect - and people who are much more qualified than I, such as Warren Buffett and George Soros, agree - that this is probbaly going to end up as one of the worst recessions in history.

Regardless, it's only just starting.

WWW has been 110% spot on in his warnings to the wannabes about the risks entailed about entering into very significant financial commitments at times like these where there is little or no chance of getting paid work as a pilot - and very unfairly he gets flamed for it by people that frankly shouldn't be allowed near an aircraft if they haven't got the common sense to see what's in front of their faces.

Such flames are the equivalent of taking an aircraft on a two hour flight when you have 90 minutes worth of fuel and saying "hey, that's no problem - I'm sure I'll get a heavy tailwind!"

Yeah, right!

How refreshing to finally see that not everyone is into these forums for verbal vindictiveness, internet rage, or whatever else you may wish to label it.

We are all entitled to express our opinions and should be equally able to tolerate the views of others however much we may disagree.

It seems that WWW and The Guvnor seem to ignite more than their share of half-witted moronic replies and have to keep up enough morale to overlook those in search of some sensible debate

Lets not lose our sense of humour though, eh?

Whirly,

I also backup you up on this one! I think the role of this forum moderators (www & scroggs) has been invaluable. The balance of giving support and keeping our feet on the ground is very important and very difficult.

Please carry on guys and good luck!

Cheers guys. Scroggs is very busy at the moment and understandably this Forum is a little lower down the 'to do' list than it was for him.

Cheers,
