Talking Wow I did it!

Wow I finnaly went solo at last on saturday it was awsome. They let me takeoff fly a circuit and then land the thing, I can tell you anyone who hasn't done it it is well worth the countless hours of instruction and training. Wow I feel so much better now and all before my 17th birthday!!!

Congratulations!!! It doesn’t get much better does it?

Welcome to a very exclusive club - how many of your mates down the pub can say that they’ve taken off, flown and landed an aircraft – all on their own?

(And by the way, just wait 'till you see what you can do when you turn 18 )

Well done,

It's a great feeling when you land, it's also an interesting feeling when you are on downwind and you have enough time to realise that you are on reallyyour own.

Welcome to the family of pilots, good luck with the rest of your PPL.

Wink

Ahh, that point on the downwind when you finally have a moment to look across and realise that there is nobody there, nobody moaning at you for being 20ft high and that you are going to have to land this thing yourself... I remember it well. As do most pilots.

Personally I sang "I'm forever blowing bubbles" all the way around my first solo (pre Michael Jackson connotations!) and daringly waggled the wings on downwind.

I too solo'd at 16 and its a fair feeling knowing you can fly a plane before you can drive a car...

Well done my son.

Congrats Speedbird on you first solo, a fantastic feeling and one you will never forget, but will forever chase.
I have two distinct memories of my first solo, the first was loosing all use of my legs when the instructor stepped out and told me to do one circuit, happily I did get my legs back when I opened the throttle for t/o. Unfortunately however my second memory may get me into the hall of fame for having the longest first solo flight (15-20 mins). No I didn’t lose the field but I did have to do a go around due to a c152 refusing to expedite a mega long final. Ahhh memories…

Welcome aboard, Speedbird!
A significant achievement at any age but even more so at yours!

I found WWW's comment about nobody nagging you for being 20 feet too high etc especially amusing!

Good luck with the rest of your PPL!

Well done Speedbird20 - less than 1% of the planet has done what you have achieved!

Word of advice, take a few minutes to write down some notes about the flight, how you felt just before, during and after etc. I did this when I did my solo, and now when I have a bad day I read it, does the world of good. Many of the students who I talk to at Oxford say they wish they had done the same. Remember keep the blue side up!

Yep, it's something you'll remember. The part that I remember the most is when I'd completed my last landing-check and had the time on downwind to reflect on what I was doing. I put my left arm on the arm rest on the door and just relaxed. It was a sunny, but clear and cold day. No winds. No turbulence. Simply magnificent. It will never be like that again...
CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Cool

Well done, mate.
I flew solo about two months ago at the age of 17. It was such a great feeling to look across to the passenger seat to see it completely empty. Then I looked behind me at the back seats- Empty! I couldenīt believe that I was doing it up there alone. I will never forget it.
2 months on I have 32 hours and shall be undertaking a dual X-Country as soon as the weather cheers up a bit!
Best of luck mate,
Trislander

Nice one mate

After 115 hours it is still my most memeral (cant spell) flight, and I think it will alway be. The second most, was first solo night flight off circuit. You really feel on your own then in the darkness.

Give it go when you get the chance
and
good luck
