Sim check problems . . ?

A friend of mine, very recently, went for a Sim check with a well known lo-co; when he arrived at LGW for an 11am appointment, the sim was u/s and when he finally got around to it, his check was late at night when he (and presumably the others) were very tired.

I'm just wondering whether the airline concerned would take account of this, not least because the aircraft type was not one he would have flown before.

Has anyone had this experience and if a situation such as this arises, is there a second opportunity?

How much of a determining factor is the sim check and given that this airline badly needs to hire pilots for its rapidly expanding fleet, is it worth going back to them, to explain the situation and request another attempt?
