Post It pays to call.

I am going to the UK to change my Aust ICAO ATPL to the JAA ATPL. I have been told and indeed the CAA's website says that the medical will cost 400 Pounds. Fair enough.
I ring the medical branch to make the booking and since I hold a valid ICAO ATPL and have 500 hours (I actually have a lot more than that) it will "only" cost 189 Pounds. This is not on the CAA's website.
I must admit that the medical branch staff that I spoke to were very helpful.

So, if you "hear" something, definitely check the source or call the CAA yourself. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Thumbs up

You can also get a UK CAA Class 1 Medical done in Syd, Mel, Bris if you know the approved medical examiner. I dont have the details with me now, but will look them up - but from memory the examiner in Syd has his offices in Australia Square (tower block) and as long as you are an ATPL holder with > 500 hrs then you can get the medical done.
